GETTING HERE

  • The 15 mile (Offerton cruise) start is at Offerton Lane WR3 8SX to the North East of Worcester  (see instructions below)

Worcester Canoe Club Starts (20 mile, full ring starts)

Parking is available at Worcester Racecourse (Pitchcroft) which is right by the club. There is a height barrier here – if you have a hatchback or estate with a boat on top you should be OK, but be careful. If you have a higher sided  vehicle you can park at the club – a marshal will show you where.

The easiest way to get here is to come off the M5 at junction 7 and follow signs to the city centre. Once you have passed the cathedral get into the right hand lane then follow the signs to A449 Kidderminster. You will turn off right just before the main bridge, so you will have the River Severn immediately to your left.  Stay in the left hand lane.  In a few hundred metres you will go  through a mini-rounabout and under a railway bridge.  Turn next left into Severn Terrace then immediately left into the public car park.  Watch the height barriers! Go straight ahead through the gate and you pass over the racecourse itself and into the Worcester Ring parking.

Offerton Cruise Starts (15 miles)

Leave the M5 at Junction 6.  Take the roundabout exit to Droitwich A4538 and Sixways (the Rugby club) which is Pershore Lane.  After half a mile or so you come to another roundabout.  Take the third exit marked Offerton and Smite.   Follow the lane for about a mile and you will see a house by the canal to your left – you should see a sign or a marshal.  There is a small amount of parking here where you can offload your boat.  If you have crossed the bridge over the canal then you hve gone too far, do a U-turn and backtrack a few metres.
